South Africans are a mixed race of people but who live harmoniously in one of the most developed countries on the African continent. Life in South Africa is quite interesting and somehow different from many other African countries simply because of the fact that you will most likely meet so many whites on the streets than you will in other countries.
From the country’s history, one can easily understand why there are so many whites and also the fact that much of the economy is still in the hands of the whites. These whites mainly live in urban communities like in Pretoria, Durban, Johanesburg and blacks will mainly be found in rural areas and in black townships, mainly in Soweto.
Both whites and black now live in harmony unlike in the past when they were divided by the arpatheid tendencies (the oppression of blacks by whites) where the whites sought supremacy over the native blacks. South Africa is gifted with beatiful and rich cultures and the natives are proud and still hold their cultures with much viogor and strength.
Nelson Mandela is highly regarded as the father of the nation, having led the country to independence from the white supremists in 1994, after his release from jail where he had spent 27 years. South Africa is home to Africa’s stong economic instituitions like Standard Bank (also trading as Stanbic) and most people on a global scale regard South Africa as the main capital or stage for Africa.
